Agriculture

Agriculture

Agriculture at Westminster means contribution to both the production on Sturt Grove Farm and development of students’ own Agricultural knowledge. Our Agriculture program is offered as both a curricular or co-curricular option for Senior School students. Our Agriculture courses develop an awareness of everything involved in food and fibre production from paddock to plate. Students are involved in a variety of activities that aim to develop practical and intellectual skills. Agriculture studies allow students to develop life skills inside and outside the classroom through activities involving problem solving, team work, and students developing their initiative and sense of responsibility.

Viticulture, horticulture, aquaculture, agronomy, rural business, and livestock production (poultry, cattle, goats, pigs, and sheep) are all embedded within the curriculum. The students also have the opportunity to be involved in the co-curricular Show teams, where we exhibit steers, dairy cattle, goats, pigs, sheep, and eggs at the Royal Adelaide Show. Agriculture is offered as a subject from Year 8 through to Year 12.
