Sturt Grove Farm

Sturt Grove Farm

Set over 4.5 hectares, Sturt Grove Farm has been an integral feature of Westminster life and the campus since 1972. Westminster School has gained an enviable reputation for its outstanding Agricultural Studies, and many South Australian farmers and agricultural leaders laid the foundations for their subsequent agricultural careers at Westminster School.

To continue this productive history, the School has defined a new vision for the Farm. This vision will become a reality through a new major investment project, with construction expected to start in October 2023 and be completed by mid-2024.

This project will expand the reach of the Farm so that there are benefits for every student, from ELC to Year 12, and the Westminster community as a whole. The Sturt Grove Farm will be a place that teaches students the importance of efficient, sustainable agriculture, weaving in concepts of biodynamic and organic practices. It will also build an understanding of how technology, science, and design support this industry to ultimately foster a sense of connection to the natural world.

The new vision for the Farm will incorporate:

  • Three multidisciplinary classrooms
  • Outdoor learning spaces
  • Well-equipped wet labs
  • Facilities for viticulture, agriculture, and aquaculture
  • Produce processing area and farm kitchen
  • Shearing facilities
  • Washdown zones
  • Farm shop
  • Community garden and other outdoor community spaces.
