OSHC

OSHC

Our high quality Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) program is run before and after school each school day by our own qualified and experienced staff, employed by Westminster in a dedicated on-site OSHC centre for our Preparatory School families. Our popular and creative Vacation Care program is designed to emphasise holiday fun both at the School and on excursions.

Like our Early Learning Centre, our OSHC program is an accredited childcare provider so eligible families may have access to the Child Care Subsidy (CCS).

Before School Care

Supervised Before School Care runs from 7.00 am until the classrooms open at 8.30 am. This service is offered to ensure children are cared for in a safe and caring environment so that parents who need to drop children off early are able to.

Junior Primary children will be escorted to the Junior Primary at 8.30 am and Reception children are settled into class and assisted with unpacking their bags. Middle and Upper Primary children are released to go to class once yard duty teachers have commenced at 8.20 am.

Any children arriving at School before 8.10 am (Years 5 to 7) or 8.20 am (Reception to Year 4) should head directly to Before School Care, unless they are arriving for scheduled activities such as Choir or Running Club. This service is intended to ensure the safety and supervision of students who need to arrive at School before the teachers are on duty. It is important that parents do not leave children in different parts of the School.

After School Care

After-School Care is an important service to families. It enables parents to work a full day, or know that, should they be late for any reason, their child is cared for. It is a safety house if a child misses a bus or train. It is run by a coordinator who is supported by educators based on the national ratio standards, 1:15. The service is available from 3.30 pm to 6.00 pm. Students can use this service on a casual basis or register for permanent use, however all children must be booked in prior to arrival. Any Preparatory School student on the School grounds after 3.45 pm will be taken to After School Care, as will students whose parents are not there to pick them up at the conclusion of an after-school activity or sports practice, which will incur a casual fee. Charges for Out of School Hours Care will be invoiced to you monthly, and will show any CCS payments the School has received on your behalf.

Children are given a nutritious afternoon tea prior to a supervised homework session. After this, the children are free to move to planned and supervised activities. After School Care has the use of School facilities.

Out of School Hours Care is required to adhere to the National Quality Standards with regards to staff ratios, qualified staff, programming and planning, and more. Please ensure that you do book your child in when care is required as we are only licensed for 60 children.

Vacation Care

Westminster School Vacation Care provides quality care for children from ELC (during the ELC closure) to Year 7. The service aims to create a safe, caring and stimulating recreational environment for children.

Vacation Care operates between 7.30 am and 6.00 pm. Excursions occur at least twice a week and all children are welcome to attend excursions. Swimming in the Westminster Swim Centre is planned 2 to 3 times per week.

Out of School Hours Care is located in the residence on the corner of the Prep School oval.

Our OSHC service is an approved Childcare Provider. This allows families to apply for the Child Care Subsidy which came in to effect on Monday 2 July 2018, and replaced both the Childcare Benefit and Childcare Rebate.
